We’re back – and with Christmas behind us, our sights are set on delivering more music projects in more places and supporting some of the young people to achieve their Arts Awards.
But before we launch into the new term, let’s just take moment to applaud and celebrate all the achievements of the young Rock On participants – not least of which was a stunning performance at the Seagull Theatre as part of the Big Sing Christmas Show. The band totally nailed their number; so enthusiastic were they that they instantly wanted to go back on and play another number – well done, everyone.
This term, in addition to regular DJ sessions at CYDS in Leiston and rock and pop sessions at Coppice Court in Lowestoft, we are also running a couple of DJ taster sessions at a housing support unit for young adults in Felixstowe, with the hope of extending it into a programme of several sessions over the summer.
We are also hoping to work with more youth clubs in the area, to gauge the level of interest in music sessions and develop more projects in the future.
And, as previously mentioned, we are hoping that a group of young people will use the Rock On sessions, along with a visit to the local Seagull Theatre, to gain their Explore Arts Award.
